Light influences us in all areas of our lives. We notice this in our well-being. In our bodies, light controls circadian processes, which are responsible for our sleep-wake rhythm. Good light allows us to work with concentration and stamina. The right light can have a relaxing and regenerative effect. In public areas, good light guarantees safety. But what characterises good light?
As manufacturers of luminaires, we would like to give you an insight into the exciting world of light planning, lighting technology and electrical engineering, and share our enthusiasm for light with you.
1.Light planning
To be able to talk about lighting, we need fundamental term s which are generally comprehensible. We also need an overview of light types and luminaire types. We shall give you these tools and illustrate a possible implementation for outdoors and indoors with practical architectural situations.
2.Information about light and illumination
In this chapter, light will be considered from a biological and physical point of view. We shall also have a look at electrical engineering. Besides the definitions of basic terms, the focus will be on control technology, beginning with luminaire control, through building management to the complete control of large installations using IP protocols. In the field of lighting technology, we shall first give brief explanations of current options for light generation and define quality characteristics of good light.
Here you will find reference values for degrees of illuminance and illumination standards in the form of a brief presentation. The chapter will be rounded off by a collection of formulae for a simple approximate calculation of light planning.
